Good Books: Reading with the Experts
BMC and MLSN are pleased to announce our 10th series of lectures. Each class meets twice. The first week discuss the author’s life, the context in which she or he wrote, and get suggestions for aspects of the book on which to focus. At the second meeting, the professor leads a lively discussion about the book. The six titles are: "Collected Fictions" by Jorge Luis Borges (9/20 & 9/27), "Algerian White" by Assia Djebar (10/4 & 10/11), "Midaq Alley" by Naguib Mahfouz (10/18 & 10/25), "Things Fall Apart" by Chinua Achebe (11/1 & 11/8), "To Live" by Yu Hua (11/15 & 11/22) and "Interpreter of Maladies" by Jhumpa Lahiri (11/29 & 12/6). Sign up for the full series for $125 or register for individual topics for $25 each.
