The Trial by Franz KafkaFicciones (1944) is Borges’s most famous collection of hybrid fictions. Most of the best known tales were originally published in periodicals and included in a previous collection entitled El jardín de senderos que se bifurcan (The Garden of Forking Paths, 1941). Andrew Hurley and Penguin books expanded the title and incorporated in their Collected Fictions a very complete selection of Borges’s literary production ranging from Historia universal de la infamia (Universal History of Iniquity, 1935) to El libro de arena (The Book of Sand, 1975). Trace Borges’s uniqueness as a maker of intertextual fictions, highlighting and analyzing the most important texts. This is #1 of the BMC Series: Good Books II: Reading with the Experts (LH12049). Sorry, we are no longer accepting registrations for this course. Please contact our office to find out if it will be rescheduled, or if alternative classes are available.
