Roots of Religious ConflictOne of the tragic paradoxes of human history is that the many paths to religious peace and salvation are littered with the corpses of the faithful and the innocent. Examine the roots of conflict between and within religious traditions: Hindu and Muslim, Muslim and Christian, Christian and Jew, Catholic and Protestant. Discuss the motivations of religious tensions that provoke them. Consider the roots of fundamentalism in different traditions, its common features, aims and effects. Recommended reading: Karen Armstrong, "The Battle for God." Sorry, we are no longer accepting registrations for this course. Please contact our office to find out if it will be rescheduled, or if alternative classes are available.
