Celtic Women Writers: Irish, Scottish, Welsh Tell a Friend about this Course

Sample the works of women writers from three Celtic nations, including Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill, Eibhlín Dhubh Ní Chonaill, and Marina Carr (Ireland), Mairi Nic a' Phearsain (Scottish), and Kate Roberts (Welsh). How is this different from "British" Literature? What are some hallmark features of writing in the Celtic language (accent, dialect, proverbial wisdome, etc.)? Does this come through in translation? The final segment of the class will be an opportunity for participants to write a very short story or poem reflecting their own thoughts on Celtic women's lives, today and in the ancient Celtic past.
