Pollock, Klee at the Phillips and Marjorie Merriweather Post at Hillwood Tell a Friend about this Course

Our first stop in DC will be the Phillips Collection where we will have a docent-led tour exploring the important role Swiss-born artist Paul Klee (1879–1940) played in the development of mid-20th century American art. The exhibition of “Ten Americans” is the first to feature work by Klee along with Jackson Pollock and other notable Abstract Expressionists. After the tour, we will board the bus and travel to Hillwood Estate where we will enjoy a light lunch (included in price) in the Hillwood cafe, and a guided tour of the beautiful gardens and mansion of Marjorie Merriweather Post. "I want young Americans to see how someone lived in the twentieth century and how this person could collect works of art the way I have...I want to share this with the rest of the world..."Marjorie Merriweather Post
