The First Four Georges: England under the Hanoverians (1714-1830) Tell a Friend about this Course

Americans generally focus on the American Revolution and the 'tyranny' of George III when they think about this period of English history. Yet ironically America gained not only independence but many of our institutions, beliefs, and political structures from England during this period. We will study the political, social, intellectual, and religious developments which shaped England and her American colonies. In the process we will examine the remarkable men who graced or disgraced the throne, and you may be surprised which of the monarchs falls into each category.
