Washington, DC: Celebrating John F Kennedy's 100th
Mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of President John F. Kennedy with a visit to two sites in Washington, DC, that pay homage to him. Enjoy a private tour of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, a "living memorial" to the 35th President of the United States, a lifelong supporter and advocate of the arts. Next, explore the Newseum which is presenting a limited reshowing of one of its most popular exhibits - "Creating Camelot: The Kennedy Photography of Jacques Lowe" showcasing more than 70 intimate and iconic images of President John F. Kennedy, first Lady Jacqueline Kennedy and their children, taken by Kennedy's personal photographer. The original negatives of nearly all 70 images were lost forever in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. The Newseum, using the only existing images from the lost negatives - those on Lowe's contact sheets and prints - tediously restored the photos digitally for this special exhibit. Lunch on your own at or near the Newseum. We will stop enroute for dinner on your own on the return to Radnor.
