Compelling Topics in American History Tell a Friend about this Course

Increase your knowledge and understanding of American history with an instructor who is known for making history "human." First examine the public and private lives of George Washington, presenting insights about the real man that have been masked by the creation of numerous myths and legends. Next, take a similar look at Benjamin Franklin, an individual who cannily reinvented his persona to fit his needs and is highly misunderstood because of efforts Franklin himself made to craft a public persona that concealed many aspects of his private life and real personality. Finally in honor of November's observation of Veterans Day, discuss the history of the nation's highest award for valor in action that can be bestowed upon an individual serving in the Armed Forces. Case studies of notable recipients will be examined.
