Evening Kayak for Beginners Tell a Friend about this Course

Learn basic strokes plus safety and rescue techniques followed by a flat water paddle along the Schuylkill as the sun sets. Discuss equipment, proper clothing and how to evaluate water conditions. Bring your dinner or pick up some amazing BBQ at Dekes nearby. Equipment included. This class may be physically demanding.

Notes:Students will need to bring lunch, a towel, change of clothes, snacks for energy and drinking water in a plastic bottle. Helpful items to bring are: a tie for glasses, sunblock, and brim hat. Wear a swimsuit or quick drying shorts and shirt (no cotton clothing), and water shoes or old sneakers for foot protection. You must be able to swim and be comfortable in water over your head. Lifejackets are provided and required to be worn throughout the class. Following the class, students may enjoy staying at the club and have a potluck dinner or order takeout at Dekes BBQ Carry Out across the street. PCC clubhouse driveway entrance is at the traffic light on Ridge Ave. by the SEPTA DEPOT/bus stop, just south of the Manayunk Main Street movie theater.
