Gilded or Tarnished? Legacy of the 1890's & Beyond
Two decades just before and after 1900 were dominated by the presidency of Theodore Roosevelt but there was much more to this period in American history than his exploits. Albert Einstein introduced the Theory of Relativity, the Wright Brothers invented the airplane, and Americans thrilled to Scott Joplin’s ragtime tunes. But there was a darker side. A president was assassinated, “robber barons” sought control of the economy, corruption was rampant and fires devastated the Northwest. Sound familiar? Learn about the famous leaders, artists, explorers, inventors, business tycoons and sports personalities who lived at the dawn of the 20th century and the momentous events which may have shaped our future.
