The Lives of the Caesars Tell a Friend about this Course

Suetonius wrote his study of the Roman Emperors based in part on archival materials available to him. Yet much of his gossip-filled account also contains much factually questionable material. Using his insights, examine the history of the Roman Empire from Julius Caesar to Marcus Aurelius including both the emperors’ significant contributions and disastrous injuries to the empire. At the same time, we will dabble in some of the salacious gossip that makes the study of these men so much fun.
