The Periodic Table - How We Got It and How You Can Use It
The United Nations has proclaimed 2019 the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements - coinciding with the 150th anniversary of Dmitry Mendeleev's published periodic table in 1869 - to raise global awareness of how chemistry provides solutions to global challenges in energy, education, agriculture and health. What is the periodic table? What information does it provide? How are new elements discovered, verified, and named? After an introduction to elements and atomic structure, examine how the table is used and explore the history of its conception and continued evolution.
