PROGRAM AND STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS DIRECTOR

Reports to: Executive Director/Director of Programs

Status: Part-time/up to 25 hours per week (varies weekly)

Position Available: May 2019

Location: Creutzburg Center and Remote

FUNCTION

Reporting to the Executive Director and Director of Programs, the Program and Strategic Partnerships Director is responsible for developing scholarly classes and special events.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Planning

  • Plans and develops a diverse portfolio of scholarly classes and special events for adult learners.
  • Collaborates with current MLSN instructors to develop new classes and recruits and develops a pipeline of new instructors and subject matter experts.
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director and Director of Development/Membership to coordinate programming for partner organizations and retirement communities.
  • Researches upcoming book publications, commemorations, anniversaries and events/dates of significance and develops and plans topical, substantive academic programs and special events.
  • Works with instructors to develop class title and description and schedule.
  • Monitors consumer/market trends to ensure relevance and competiveness of MLSN’s classes.
  • Monitors quality of classes and instructors, provides feedback and makes adjustments as necessary.

Catalog Development

  • Enters new instructor and class information into internal database.
  • Writes and edits class descriptions; proofs draft of catalog.
  • Meets deadlines for catalog development.

Operations

  • Oversees management of special events onsite the day of the event.
  • Works closely with Director of Operations to coordinate classroom equipment, logistics, site management and classroom assignments.
  • Handles orders for book sales for specific programs and processes returns, if necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in program development and implementation of academic-oriented classes and events.
  • Highly organized with an outstanding attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Works well independently and as part of a team.
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of experience in class/event programming academic classes for adults and/or experience in the educational field is desirable.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with connections to organizations, groups and individuals in the Main Line area who are resources for the development of new classes and/or educational partnerships and recruiting new instructors.

Program Coordinator, Computers and Technology

FUNCTION

Reporting to the Director of Programs, the Program Coordinator plans the programming of computer and technology classes for adults in our community.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Planning

  • In collaboration with other Program Directors, contributes to creating a well-balanced program of a minimum of 40 classes per semester with a combination of core classes and approximately 25% new classes each semester to achieve tuition and enrollment goals
  • Working with the instructors to develop class title and description, scheduling the time, dates, number of sessions, title and biography and competitive class pricing
  • Develops continuous stream of new class ideas with current and new instructors
  • Keeps abreast of consumer/market trends to ensure relevance and competiveness of MLSN’s courses including content and pricing
  • Ensures excellent quality of classes and instructors
  • Recruits and hires new instructors for developing new classes
  • Rehires current instructors and confirms  new or repeat classes for each new semester

Catalog Development

  • Writes and edits class details  for catalog proofs working with content provided by the instructor
  • Enters new instructor and course information into online database
  • Meets strict deadlines for catalog development

Operations

  • Coordinates with site managers regarding class equipment and classroom set-up; coordinates classroom assignment with Director of Operations
  • Maintains contact with instructors and responds to email on a daily basis in order to keep current as to teacher and student issues and feedback regarding classes

Qualifications

  • Experience in coordinating program development and implementation
  • Experience in the IT field, preferred
  • Highly organized with outstanding attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Works well independently and as part of a team
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of experience in class programming for adults and/or experience in Education.

Creutzburg Weeknight Site Manager

Duties

  • Works with Operations Director on room arrangements and equipment needs based on classes offered
  • Interacts with and assists faculty instructors regarding facilities issues
  • Processes walk-in registrations, collects and returns funds to the Registrar
  • Troubleshoots issues that arise and elevates them to Operations Director when appropriate
  • Provides excellent customer service to students and faculty
  • Oversees volunteers assigned at location
  • Distributes and ensures collection of class evaluation forms
  • Knowledge of and ability to execute emergency procedures at site
  • Distributes rosters to instructors on first day of class
  • Sells textbooks for language classes
  • Administers janitorial duties
  • Secures building at the end of evening
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent customer relations skills
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Available 5:00pm to 10:00pm
  • Ability to communicate using e-mail
  • Ability to use various A/V equipment

Dates and Times

  • Mondays, approximately 5:00pm-10:00pm
  • Fall term starts mid-September for ten weeks ending early December. The spring term resumes approximately late February and continues through end of June.
