PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Reporting to the Director of Programs, the Program Director plans the programming of avocational courses for adults in his or her designated area of responsibility. The position is part-time, 15 hours per week. 

Responsibilities:

Program Planning

  • In collaboration with other Program Directors, contributes to creating a well-balanced program of classes per semester with a combination of core courses and approximately 1/3 new courses each semester to achieve tuition and enrollment goals
  • Develops continuous stream of new course ideas
  • Keeps abreast of consumer/market trends to ensure relevance and competiveness of MLSN’s courses including content and pricing
  • Ensures excellent quality of courses and instructors
  • Recruits and hires new instructors for developing new courses
  • Rehires current instructors and confirms new and repeat courses for each new semester

Catalog Development

  • Writes and edits course descriptions for catalog proofs working with content provided by the instructor
  • Enters instructor and course information into online database
  • Meets strict deadlines for catalog development

Operations

  • Collaborates on proposed course submissions and instructor information with other Program Directors
  • Coordinates with site managers regarding course equipment and classroom set-up; coordinates classroom assignments with Director of Operations
  • Greets instructors on the first night of class and orients them to school, as needed
  • Works with Director of Operations to plan for a volunteer presence, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Intellectually-oriented person with experience in program development and implementation.
  • Highly organized with outstanding attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Works well independently and as part of a team.
  • Outgoing and enjoys working with many different types of people from all walks of life.
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of experience in class programming for adults and/or experience in Education.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with connections to organizations, groups and individuals in the Main Line area who are resources for the development of new courses and/or educational partnerships.

Part Time: 15 Hours per Week

WEEKNIGHT SITE MANAGER AT CREUTZBURG CENTER

The Site Manager oversees the evening MLSN class program at this location.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with Operations Director on room arrangements and equipment needs based on classes offered
  • Interacts with and assists faculty instructors regarding facilities issues
  • Processes walk-in registrations, collects and returns funds to the Registrar 
  • Troubleshoots issues that arise and elevates them to Operations Director when appropriate
  • Provides excellent customer service to students and faculty
  • Oversees volunteers assigned at location
  • Distributes and ensures collection of class evaluation forms
  • Knowledge of and ability to execute emergency procedures at site
  • Distributes rosters to instructors on first day of class
  • Sells textbooks for language classes
  • Administers janitorial duties
  • Secures building at the end of evening
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent customer relations skills
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Available 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm
  • Ability to communicate using e-mail
  • Ability to use various A/V equipment

Dates and Times:

  • Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, approximately 5:30 pm -10:00 pm
  • Fall term starts mid-September for ten weeks ending early December. The spring term resumes approximately late February and continues through end of June.

EVENING SCHOOL SUPPORT PERSON AT LOWER MERION HIGH SCHOOL 

Support the evening MLSN program at this location on Tuesday evenings

Responsibilities:

  • Setting up classrooms and AV equipment as needed by instructors based on classes offered (moving tables, desks, chairs and resetting as they were found)
  • Interact with custodial staff regarding facilities issues 
  • Interact with ans assist faculty; troubleshoot issues as they occur with classroom setup and AV needs
  • Assist students in finding classrooms
  • Light clean up after classes and ensure room is in order as found
  • Assist instructors with carrying equipment from cars to classrooms and back again
  • Be aware of and able to execute emergency procedures at site

  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Available Tuesday evenings 5:00 to 10 PM at Lower Merion High School
  • Ability to communicate using e-mail

Dates and Times:

  • Fall term starts the second week in September (9/19) for 10 weeks then the Spring term resumes approximately the third week in February
  • Approximately 5:30pm-10:00pm
